About Bearbusters

Bearbusters was started in 1983 by Tom MacDonald, a great hunter and a good friend. I had the privilege of working with Tom for 8 years before he passed away in the summer of 2000 after a lengthy illness. His passing left a void in the lives of all who knew him.

After more than 29 years Bearbusters is still offering you a great hunting vacation. My name is Jim Wilson and I am the owner/operator of Bearbusters.ca. With 20 years experience in the guiding, outfitting business, I know how important it is to offer you comfortable accommodations, active baits, knowledge of Black Bear activity and movement as well as a good understanding of Archery, Muzzle Loading and Modern Firearms.

To assist me in assuring you a great hunt is Bryon Miles, and Earl Adams, long time guides and close friends. Bryon has more than 25 years bear guiding experience and provides exceptional understanding of wildlife movements and habits. Earl a life long hunter who first hunted with bearbusters 14 years ago has returned every year to search for the Monster bear and while he is with us he assists in making hunters comfortable and is our archery expert.

Bryon, Earl and I are dedicated bear hunters and bear hunting is the only hunt we offer. Baiting begins in July. This type of preparation is needed for a great September hunt. Long term baiting and scouting is necessary in order for us to be able to offer you a great bear hunt. Although fishing is good and right at our door step, it takes a back seat to hunting.

Our goal is to offer you a great hunt experience and to give you the
hunter a fair chance at a black bear.
Remember, Full time guides offer full time commitment.

and watch for 5 day hunts as opposed to our 7 day hunt.

Bearbusters is located in central Ontario, Canada. Just 4.5 hours North of Toronto, in some of the best Canadian Wilderness for Black Bear hunting over baits. With more than 500 square miles of Crown land it is possible to put you in the middle of some of the most productive bear habitat. We seat only one hunter per bait and we offer you the chance to move to another baitsites should our first choice not produce, as expected.

Many of our hunters become good friends and return again. One of our clients has hunted with us 19 times and has harvested 17 bears.

We are dedicated outfitters and work hard to make your hunt pleasurable and productive. We will try to accommodate every hunters needs, regardless of your skill level, man or woman, young or old.
